Custom Stone Fireplace
Full-height natural stone fireplace with granite hearth, built around a high-efficiency insert.

Most chimney repairs fail because of the mortar, not the mason. Blu Masonry matches the mortar to the structure it is going into. Done right, a repointing job lasts 25 to 50 years. Done with the wrong mix, it damages the brick it was meant to protect.
Composition, color, sand size and hardness analyzed before a single joint is tooled.
The chimney takes more weather than any other masonry on the house. We build for that.
We tell you when a repoint will hold and when it will only delay a rebuild.

Advanced masonry techniques ensuring both structural integrity and a premium visual aesthetic.

Stone veneer columns and granite treads showing the joint work and cut precision we hold to on every structure.

A chimney takes more weather than any other masonry on a New England house. It stands exposed on all four sides, sheds water from the roofline, and goes through every freeze-thaw cycle of the winter with no shelter at all. Joints open, the crown cracks, water finds the path in, and the damage moves downward out of sight. Using incompatible mortar is the leading cause of premature failure in New England chimneys. Modern high-cement mortar is harder than older brick, so instead of the joint absorbing movement, the brick face does, and it spalls. We analyze the existing mortar for composition, color, sand size and hardness and build a custom-tailored mix, lime-based where the structure calls for it, so the repair is structurally compatible and breathable. We also repair and rebuild crowns, which is where most water intrusion actually starts.
We assess the joints, crown, flashing line and brick condition, and analyze the existing mortar for composition, color, sand size and hardness before any mix is specified.
We rake out deteriorated joints to the correct depth and clean the surfaces, so the new mortar bonds to sound material instead of sitting on dust and debris.
We tool the joints with a custom-tailored mix, lime-based where the structure requires it, so the repair stays breathable and structurally compatible with the original brick.
We repair or rebuild the crown and refine the details that send water away from the structure, which is where most chimney failures actually begin.

Every stone and joint executed to the highest New England engineering standards.
