Bluestone Patio & Deck Transition
Full-color bluestone patio set flush to a composite deck, pitched away from the foundation for clean runoff.

A patio is only as good as what sits under it. Blu Masonry installs paver, bluestone and natural stone patios and walkways over deep compacted bases with proper drainage slope, so the surface stays level and the joints stay tight through New England winters.
Deep excavation and multi-stage compaction. The part nobody sees is what keeps it level.
Every surface is pitched away from the foundation, with drains added where runoff is restricted.
Authorized installer of Unilock and Techo-Bloc products, backed by lifetime manufacturer warranties.

Pavers sink, heave and shift for one reason: base preparation. A surface laid over organic soil or a shallow base will move with the first freeze-thaw cycle, no matter how good the stone looks on day one. We excavate deep enough to remove organic soils, import premium crushed stone, and compact it in stages with industrial plates rather than in one pass. Every patio is designed with a minimum slope of 1 to 2 percent away from the foundation, and where natural runoff is restricted we add hidden channel drains, catch basins or a connection to a French drain. Heavy-duty edge restraints hold the field against lateral movement, and polymeric sand swept and activated in the joints locks the surface and resists weeds and washout.
We map the flow of the space, check property grading and runoff patterns, and plan any utility lines that need to run under the surface before excavation begins.
We excavate to stable subsoil, lay structural geotextile fabric, import premium crushed stone and compact it in stages using industrial vibrating plates to prevent future settling.
We set a minimum 1 to 2 percent slope away from the foundation, add channel drains or catch basins where runoff is restricted, and install heavy-duty edge restraints against lateral shifting.
We lay the field with precise cuts, sweep polymeric sand into the joints and mist it to activate the binders, then clean the surface and apply professional-grade sealant where appropriate.

Every stone and joint executed to the highest New England engineering standards.
